Automated speech recognition that works how you expect it to
Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) tools have advanced greatly in recent years, offering a more cost-effective transcription option versus the traditional human transcription model. ASR is a technology that is used to transcribe spoken words into written text. While quality still does not fully match up to a human writer and editor workflow, AI is now advancing to the stage where voice recognition software combined with human post-editing is producing highly accurate scripts.
Automated speech recognition (ASR) explained
Global Lingo has embedded the latest ASR technology into our workflows. This enables us to offer our clients a range of more flexible transcription solutions to suit your specific requirements.
Our speech to text software is advanced but it cannot produce perfect transcripts. However, combining voice recognition technology with post-editing by a native human writer results in a 95% accuracy rate for audio and video transcripts, at a much-reduced price point.
Our speech recognition transcription tool transcribes in real-time, followed by specialist post-editing by linguistic experts to adjust and correct errors, tidy up the text and bespoke format the finished document as required by the client. We can produce transcripts in a third of the time it would take to transcribe from scratch, and offer 6-hour, 24-hour and 48-hour turnaround options, with more flexible options upon request.
It is worth noting that ASR and speech recognition transcription technologies do not yet accurately transcribe poor-quality audio or strongly-accented speech to text. Any content submitted to us for transcription is reviewed by our in-house team to determine the most efficient approach for your project.
Features and benefits of voice recognition software
Is speech recognition accurate? The answer to this question is yes, it is, and it is constantly improving. ASR transcription technology has a long history dating back to the 1950s and as AI grows, it continues to shape the language industry. Developments in the areas of deep learning and big data means this technology is becoming better at converting the spoken word into text. ASR is becoming more adept at processing language and meeting the challenges of multiple speakers, echoes, accents and background noise.
Excellent quality
A two-step process of ASR and post-editing by specialist editors produces a high-quality transcript, correctly attributed, carefully researched and in a template style and format to suit the client’s needs.
Quick turnaround times
If you have large volumes of transcripts that you need quickly, ASR technology offers faster turnaround times through fast draft transcription, backed up with a human editing stage.
Security
All work is managed through our secure online business management portal, GloZone which centralises all operations, regardless of time zone and location. This ensures fast turnaround times, security and ease of use.
Competitive prices
By using speech recognition software, we are able to offer competitive pricing by reducing turnaround time and manual effort.
Bespoke solutions
We offer flexible and bespoke solutions based on individual requirements. No matter the volume of content, we can customise our service to work for you.
Certified translation services: Processes and solutions
Global Lingo does not compromise on quality. Every draft transcript is post-edited by a dedicated team and tailored to specific templates, styles and formats for each client.
ASR post-editing differs from standard editing. It requires a greater level of intervention to achieve a text that is stylistically appropriate. This involves attributing speakers correctly and using templates and formats as required by the client for internal or external use.
We have a dedicated ASR platform integrated into our business management system. Clients upload their files directly to our customer platform, GloZone, using their unique credentials. The file will then migrate to our ASR platform for the production of an instantaneous ‘raw’ transcript. This draft transcript is based on acoustic and language modelling.
Our dedicated team of post-editors are highly skilled transcribers and editors, and each has been trained individually on the additional requirements of post-editing by our in-house Quality Manager. Each transcript is reviewed and thoroughly checked by a dedicated project manager prior to final delivery. We operate ongoing and rigorous quality assurance monitoring of our ASR platform, as well as our pool of post-editors to ensure excellence.
How automated speech recognition systems can benefit your business
The traditional human transcription model is often slow, expensive and inaccurate. Many businesses are still using outdated transcription methods that rely on human transcribers, resulting in inaccurate transcriptions with slow turnaround times. This can cause major delays in getting your content out to the market.

Adding ASR tools into your workflow provides numerous benefits:
- Increased accuracy – ASR technology has come a long way in terms of transcription accuracy, meaning less time wasted on correcting errors.
- Cost-effective – ASR is a more cost-effective option compared to human transcription, especially for projects with high volumes of transcriptions required.
- Speed – ASR tools speed up turnaround times as there is no need to wait for a human transcriber to become available.
- Ease of use – The user interface for most ASR tools are simple and easy to navigate, making it a breeze to get started without any prior experience or training.
