DevLearn – Las Vegas 24-26 October 2018

Debuting as an exhibitor at the 2018 DevLearn Expo in Las Vegas in October was a fantastic experience for myself and the team here at Global Lingo. I was joined at the event by my colleagues Chetan Khushal (Sales Director, EMEA) who has spearheaded our excellent & growing reputation as a trusted provider in the Learning & Development sector over recent years in Europe, and Marina Mann – Global Lingo’s new Head of Marketing.

As specialist localisation providers focusing on Learning and Development content, this well-respected event was the obvious choice for Global Lingo to meet with existing and potential clients & partners alike, to discuss trends in the industry. At the event we showcased how Global Lingo’s professional network of specialized linguists combine with our technology stack to make life easier for L&D teams looking to take their learning programs global.

Mix in a great venue at the Mirage and the wonderfully contrasting October weather, when compared to our regional offices in London & Chicago; it made for a fantastic few days in Nevada.

The general trends were certainly that the L&D market is globalizing fast and is now expected that learners are provided the facility to take on-board knowledge in their native language. Alongside that the focus on video learning & gamification continues to grow and Virtual & Augmented Reality are also being given ever-growing roles in the process of learning – The Swiss Army now use Virtual reality to manage the first half of all basic rifle training, so that novices don’t get access to the weapons themselves until they have full familiarity with how to handle them.

We look forward to working with people we met at DevLearn in the coming months, and we’ll certainly be back in 2019; an event not to be missed on the L&D calendar!
