Main Purpose of Job

Global Lingo are looking for an experienced Account Manager to  

  1. Build relationships and maintain spend with some of our key accounts, and  
  2. Strategically grow the revenue generated from these accounts through a mix of cross-selling  to new departments, up-selling by offering a wider selection of our services and technology, and new business prospecting, uncovering new divisions and geographies with requirements.  
  3. Develop business opportunities with new clients in via a blended approach to new business hunting 

Based in our Global Headquarters in London, the Account Manager will work alongside the existing EMEA sales and account management team. There is an expectation to travel to see our UK and mainland European clients as required. The expectation for this role is to be spending 50% of time on account management and 50% on new business. 

Job Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • For each allocated account identify key contacts and increase frequency of communication between Global Lingo and the customer, working to maintain and improve the existing relationships with clients.
  • Work to maintain spend retention from existing client contacts, while proactively driving growth of revenue through new divisions and departments with which Global Lingo have not previously worked. Look for both upselling and cross-selling opportunities to increase Global Lingo’s share of customer spend.
  • Book, prepare for, and attend meetings with clients, with a clear agenda and objectives of meeting planned in advance. Meetings will include review meetings held quarterly and bi-annually, as well new business meetings with new divisions, departments, and contacts.
  • Record calls, meetings and correspondence for each customer in the CRM (Salesforce) and keep contact details updated.
  • Assess, prepare and complete proposals and responses for tenders, RFIs, RFPs, and other formal tendering processes.
  • For those allocated accounts with multi-year contracts work in advance of the contract end date to negotiate contract extensions.
  • Attend trade shows and conferences during which meetings with clients can be arranged, as well industry knowledge increased through attendance to seminars and workshops.
  • Attend weekly internal sales meetings presenting progress and prior week’s activities/opportunities.
  • Take ownership of customer issues and follow problems through to resolution, working with the Quality Manager and relevant Project Manager as needed.
  • Build a targeted new list of prospective new clients.
  • Design and execute a go to market strategy to promote Global Lingos market research specific language services capabilities.
  • Have ownership of the complete sales cycle from identifying new clients right through to closing opportunities and onboarding of new clients.

About you

  • Excellent understanding of the market research industry competitive landscape.
  • In-depth knowledge of market research survey platforms and associated file types for translation as well as basic understanding of best practices for XML/Scripted files.
  • A consultative approach to identifying areas for continuous improvement for the entire lifecycle of an international market research project, pre and post translation production.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with ability to discuss complex topics and projects with clients as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and commercially minded, able to see the big picture of how personal objectives and goals will play a role in the wider company’s objectives.
  • Experience working to KPIs (weekly, monthly, and quarterly), including calls, meetings, and revenue KPIs.
  • Good telephone manner, and willing and happy to make calls to clients and new contacts.
  • Business Acumen and financially literate, ability to present forecasted revenue, discount and margin information, and other financial information in Excel in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Appetite for learning and trying new ways of working based on what’s most effective and what the goals are.
  • Results oriented, with a positive “can-do” attitude.


  • Previous account management experience servicing the market research sector from within the LSP industry or another support services industry to the market research clients is essential (3+ years).
