This great entertaining article on The Tyee demonstrates how the English language is used and turned around in Japan.

The Japanese have a great love of the English language but to a native speaker the usage can be a little alarming. However, looked at with a forgiving eye their use of English is quite charming and makes great plays on words and meaning, even if it wasn’t intended to achieve that in the first place.

Older readers, like me, might remember the late great Stanley Unwin made a career out of mixing up and creating his own words.
