With the aim of offering ongoing and sustained support for local charitable organisations, Global Lingo set out at the beginning of 2019 to establish our Global CSR Programme.
Half way through the year, we look back at what the teams in each region have been getting up to, supporting their chosen local charities.
Each regional Global Lingo office decided on one charity to dedicate their time to and have been volunteering monthly. Both Romania and Chicago worked hard in the kitchens of their dedicated charities, “I see you” – Hot Meal Programme and The Night Ministry, both of which help support vulnerable and homeless people in their respective cities. Early mornings were had, and several hundreds of meals were prepared. The Singapore team also spent many hours in the warehouse of the Singapore Food Bank to catalogue and sort the food items donated to the organisation.
Feedback from those who took part has been extremely positive. The people, the stories, and the team bonding have left many wanting to do more.
The London office took this another step further when three members of the team signed up for the Leadenhall abseil in aid of Maggie’s Centres, a charity focused on helping support families of people with cancer. On a monthly basis the team also dedicates their time to the Centre’s garden.
The volunteering opportunities are set to continue well into the second half of the year and the teams are extremely keen to give as much as possible to support their chosen organisations. Keep up the good work!
“Maggie’s has worked with Global Lingo this year both in a volunteering and fundraising capacity. This has included some brave employees even abseiling down the Cheesegrater! A number of other employees have volunteered in our gardens here at Charing Cross Hospital, helping to create a calming, restorative space for visitors receiving support with their cancer diagnosis.
We hope to continue working with Global Lingo during the rest of the year and beyond.”
O Masă Caldă
“The mission of “O Masă Caldă” (Hot Meals) association is to bring a hot meal wherever needed – to children of disadvantaged families, to adults residing in the local emergency centres and to homeless persons or whoever needs a meal and comes to I.L. Caragiale park from Monday to Friday at 15:00. In order to fulfil our mission, our most valuable resources are volunteers and donations. The Global Lingo teams are by our side and offer their financial support. They are part of the #omasacalda community, a community of friends connected by a common goal – that of feeding souls, which goes beyond feeding stomachs. And for that, we would like to express our thanks!”
The Food Bank Singapore Ltd
“We would like to thank the employees of Global Lingo (Singapore) Pte Ltd for their generous time and effort to The Food Bank Singapore Ltd from 6th April 2019 onwards, the first Saturday of every month. They have contributed numerous hours of community service. The team’s selfless contributions made it possible for us to serve the hungry individuals and families.
We would like to take this opportunity to applaud the team’s spirit of sharing and helping.”
The Night Ministry
“The group purchases a variety of nutritious ingredients and prepares a hot breakfast, which they then serve to the homeless youth residing at The Night Ministry’s emergency overnight shelter. As many of our clients go throughout the day without food and depend on us for their caloric needs, Global Lingo’s generosity makes a significant impact. We truly appreciate the effort and hard work they contribute.”
